‘Runaways’ rock the silver screen
After depicting Cherie Currie’s journey from girl-next-door to drunken girl- passed out on the floor in “The Runaways,” it’s official that Dakota Fanning is all grown up.
“The Runaways” is not an average rise-and-fall rock star biopic, but The Runaways weren’t an average band, either. The film, an adaptation from Currie’s memoir, “Neon Angel,” focuses on the forming of Joan Jett’s all-girl rock band, that makes it from trailer parks to Tokyo, and the empowerment and exploitation the girls faced while climbing the billboard charts in a man’s world.
